Item Description

These old specimens from the Rat's Nest Claim in Idaho are some of the most classic zeolite specimens from the United States, especially outside of the East Coast. Many fine quality, well-formed, very sharp, HIGHLY lustrous, soft peach colored groups of Heulandite measuring up to 2.1 are sitting on snow white Mordenite and minor basalt matrix. The Heulandites have such an incredibly "wet" vitreous luster, and believe me when I saw they look better in person. Great condition all around with only a tiny bit of roughness. Such a showy display specimen of this classic material that would give Indian Heulandites a run for their money from the standpoint of quality. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
