Heulandite on Mordenite

Heulandite specimens from Idaho are quite unique compared most other world localities and are probably some of the prettiest from any American locale! Scores of peachy pink, sheath-like fans of lustrous Heulandite cover much of the display surface of this attractive piece on a nicely contrasting white crust of Mordenite. These crystals are the textbook, diamond-shaped fans that are thinner in the middle and somewhat thicker on the ends. They range in size from less than one centimeter up to 2.5 cm. This locality constitutes a major find for the species by worldwide standards and certainly produced the best in the USA. These have come out in spurts over the last 20 years or so, and this would have come out through mining by John Cornish, probably the big pocket he found in the early 2000s. This is a very good, large, aesthetic example and quite beautiful too!
