Heulandite on Chalcedony

Item Description

When they are good, they are really good, is what I say about Indian zeolites. The masses of common specimens are interesting, but occasionally some special things stand out! This specimen features really interesting , wide-splayed heulandite crystals of 4 to 5 cm across, perched like flowers emerging out of the womb of glistening, sparkly, strange growths of white chalcodony (quartz). This is a strange contrast and combination, and subtly different from modern material. It really looks orgnaic and biological, somehow. We are truly honored to present this specimen from another lot of deaccessions from the collection of Jack Halpern of San Francisco, as featured in the Mineralogical Record, March 2005.
