Item Description
Hard to find and beautiful reddish colored Heulandite from an Alpine locality in Italy. The material is well known from the Val di Fassa (Fassa Valley), but are seldom seen on the market. This piece features attractive, well-formed, monoclinic crystals of Heulandite (specifically Heulandite-(Ca)) measuring up to 8 mm in "melaphyre" basaltic rock. Most people don't associated zeolite minerals with Alpine localities, but this piece is a great exception to the rule. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1212). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
