Item Description
A beautiful example from this famed locality in Paterson, New Jersey. The New Street Quarries are actually in Paterson, but many people mistakenly label the pieces from the Prospect Park Quarry as coming from Paterson as well. This robust cabinet sized piece is filled with sharp, lustrous, well-formed, soft cream colored pearly aggregates of Heulandite measuring up to 1.2 cm, sitting on basalt matrix. The piece is sawn on the bottom so it sits easily on its own, and displays nicely. All of the central crystals are in great shape, though the periphery is forgivably contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. A great piece from what is certainly one of the great trap rock mineral localities in northern New Jersey. From the collection of Alfred Stevenson.
