Item Description

A RARE, rich and sculptural large 360-degree specimen of solid hetaerolite from the famous Campbell Mine at Bisbee. This is VERY rare species material , and old! Dense grape-like clusters of lustrous metallic charcoal-gray botryoids rest atop massive vescicular hetaerolite. The striking vugs on both sides of the botryoids add much charcter to the piece. Hetaerolite is an uncommon Zn-Mn oxide and is rare from Bisbee. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 2001. Comes with a 1960s Scott Williams label. According to Chet's catalogue, the piece was formerly in the Dr. Eugene Sensel Collection. Sensel purchased the piece for $8.50 in 1962. An exceptional large example of this rare Bisbee species.
