Matrix Herkimer quartz "diamond" specimens are rare because the crystals commonly break off matrix during collecting, as the matrix is usually very hard. This aesthetic and excellent large matrix specimen features a gem-like, 2.0 cm, doubly terminated 'diamond' jauntily set in a sculptural vug. Some of the crystal faces are lightly etched, which adds character. There is another 1.5 cm crystal hidden on the base. The sculptural quality of this uncommon matrix piece and the placement of the isolated, gem-like Herkimer make this a very fine, rare, highly representative specimen. Older material.
