Herkimer Quartz "diamonds" in matrix (uncommon)

A very cute and uncommon matrix Herkimer quartz "diamond" miniature from the famous locality. Two limpid, gem facet-like crystals, to 1.5 cm, are dramatically set on the sculptural vuggy matrix lined with sparkly oxide-tinted drusy quartz. The smaller crystals add pizzazz to this very aethetic piece. Matrix pieces are rare because the crystals commonly break off matrix during collecting, as the silicified matrix is usually very hard. The piece displays beautifully without aid and has several fine display views.
