Item Description
Three gem-like, Herkimer quartz "diamonds" are aesthetically set in the vuggy matrix on this very sculptural and uncommon matrix specimen. The striking single doubly terminated crystal is 2.0 cm. Matrix pieces are rare because the crystals commonly break off matrix during collecting, as the silicified matrix is usually very hard. Some of the crystal faces are lightly etched, which adds character. Nearly pristine, the trivial bit of bruising to the isolated crystal is barely noticeable and is certainly only a modest detraction. The sculptural quality of this uncommon matrix piece and the placement of the isolated, gem-like Herkimers make this a very fine, rare, highly representative specimen. It has two fine display views.
