Item Description

Shockingly large, isolated, finely splayed crystals of hemimorphite, from a classic find at this famous mine in the 1980s. Ojuela Mine has produced much of the world's finest crystallized hemimorphite, in different styles and pockets over the years. However, these elongated crystals (over 2 inches) are among the rarest and most desired by collectors. Anything above 1 inch crystals is considered large. This is double and more. Also, most crystals of this style are only white, but this has interesting and beautiful slight inclusions of hematite which give the tips a red highlight! Combined with sparkling luster and glass shine, this is a rare, very fine specimen in the size range. Valued $1500-2000, easily. This is from the important Mexico suite of Bill Panczner, curator of the Arizona Desert Museum and author of the still-definitive book MINERALS OF MEXICO (1987).
