Hemimorphite with Hematite ''Phantoms''

A beautiful and showy display specimen of this uncommon material from Santa Eulalia. While Hemimorphite isn't rare from this area, these specific specimens are hard to find. This piece is loaded with excellent, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, white/colorless, bladed prismatic crystals of Hemimorphite measuring up to 2.6 cm long, which features stark red colored "phantoms" on the lower 2/3 due caused from inclusions of Hematite. Nearly all of the crystals are pristine, and look beautiful up close. The matrix features more iron oxide in the form of muted dark brown-red Hematite and silvery-grey Goethite. Certainly one of the finest examples of this material that we've ever had to offer. Valued $2,000.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#59 Mx), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
