Item Description

A RICHLY colored specimen of intense blue (slightly greenish-blue) colored Hemimorphite from the famous 79 Mine in Arizona. I haven't seen another Hemimorphite specimen from this mine with such STRONG color, but the compressed / bladed translucent white Calcite association, plus the spherical white Smithsonite "balls", along with the look of the matrix are most the clear cut indicators that it's from the 79 Mine. When I took a peak under the microscope, I saw hundreds of thin bladed orthorhombic crystals with basal terminations, and they're not "fuzzy" or acicular like the Aurichalcites from this locality. I suppose I could be wrong, and it's a strong blue Aurichalcite, but I don't think so. The aesthetics, arrangment and overall beauty make it a very worthwhile specimen from this well known locality. The color might look a bit more green in the photos, but it's a wonderful rich blue with a slight green overtone in person. Very attractive and hard to find these days on the market, especially with this color. Don't miss out.
