Item Description
A large percentage of the Hemimorphite specimens we've seen coming out of Republic of the Congo (both from the Pool Department or the Bouenza Department) typically have a bit of copper content, creating a blue color. THIS piece is from Mfouati, and is actually a rarer example in my mind as it's snow white, with no hint of blue copper content anywhere. There was a small pocket in early 2021 that produced these specimens, and I haven't seen anymore since. The specimen is covered by beautiful botryoidal sparkling groups of Hemimorphite on the display side, and even a bit on the back. Overall the piece is in good shape, though there are a few rough spots, so it's not completely undamaged. While white Hemimorphite might not be the most exciting thing in the world, it's significant for the locality and the country in general, so if you have a suite of worldwide Hemimorphites, or minerals from Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville - not DRC), don't miss out on this one.
