Item Description
A beautiful and certainly uncommon blue color Hemimorphite from the renowned copper deposit at Kimbedi in the Congo. Typically, Hemimorphite is colorless, and I have only seen blue Hemimorphite like this from a few world localities. This piece features sharp, lustrous, well-formed, soft sky blue crystals "sprays" of Hemimorphite with very minor gossan matrix. This is undoubtedly one of the few Hemimorphites from this locality that I have seen with this color, which is most likely caused by Copper inclusions. Under SW UV light, the piece fluoresces a lovely blue hue, that seems to be more concentrated near the center for some unknown reason. This is one of the better ones from Kimbedi, with good color, but not quite the top gemminess that we've seen in some of the best specimens.
