Hemimorphite (fine blue color) (2020 discovery)

Item Description

Over the years, there have been a few important discoveries of attractive blue Hemimorphite from a few localities in the renowned copper deposits in Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville). A few months ago (May 2020) we picked up a small but good quality parcel of new material from the M'Fouati Mine. These new specimens have excellent color and the vast majority are good sized display specimens. This cabinet sized piece features a coverage of beautiful bright sky blue colored botryoidal Hemimorphite which is associated with a bit of blue-green Chrysocolla on the reverse side along with some grey-blue botryoids of what might be Hemimorphite, but could possibly be Rosasite. Additionally, if you look closely on the surface of the Hemimorphite, you will see tiny green "balls" of Malachite scattered about, which I can't remember seeing ever before from this locality, or possibly on any blue Hemimorphite in the world. A very attractive and fine quality example of these beautiful new specimens. Valued at $600 in the inventory.
