Hemimorphite (excellent blue color)

Item Description

A gorgeous near large cabinet sized display specimen of Hemimorphite from the Malipo Mine in China featuring fantastic rich blue colored spheres on matrix. The blue color is due to copper content in the Hemimorphite, which clearly was deposited in multiple generations, as you can see the exposed banded layers on the edge of the piece that alternate between blue (copper-bearing) and white (standard Hemimorphite). This color is about as rich as you'll find for the material from any locality, and compares wonderfully with pieces from the famous old Sa Duchessa Mine in Sardinia, Italy, which sell for big money nowadays.
