Hemimorphite

A dramatic and very fine CABINET specimen of hemimorphite from Wenshan, China. This is very close to the "electric blue" ones that have been the most popular of them. It is very lustrous - a smithsonite-like luster - and actually slightly translucent. The color in person is even more intense than the photo shows. This striking, very vuggy, large piece has a very rich surface coating of hemimorphite on both sides and even one end shelters an incredible boxwork of vugs with hemimorphite. Modest periphery wear and bruising are noted. Irregardless, this remains one of the most impressive large examples of the species, that we have handled from this locale.
