Item Description

A splendent metallic-gray hematite plate with sharp edges and a nifty cross-hatched striated face is jauntily complemented with quartz crystals and quartz. The very finest USA hematites came from sporadic finds from the 1940s to 1990s at this small Arizona claim in the Quartzsite area. The accompanying label from the stock of well-known Arizona dealer and collector, De Natura (Les Presmyk), dates the piece to the late 1970s to early 1990s. The earlier Crystal Caverns claim was renamed the Veta Grande claim in the late 1970s. See the 1980 Mineralogical Record article in the Arizona-II Special Issue, Vol. 11, No. 4.
