Hematite with ''Faden'' Quartz (ex Harold Michel Collection)

A rarely seen matrix display specimen from this locally well-known spot near Quartzsite, Arizona. This small claim has produced arguably the very finest US Hematites from sporadic fines from the 1940s to 1990s. This robust small cabinet display specimen features many razor-sharp, highly splendent metallic-gray Hematite blades measuring up to 7 mm sitting atop sharp, lustrous, GEM/gemmy, colorless Quartz prisms on matrix. If you look closely you'll see that there is a group of "Faden" Quartz crystals on the edge of the piece, which is notably rare in my experience with this material. The crystals are stacked on top of one another, and there is a clear "Faden" (German word for string) line running through them. This is arguably the best matrix Hematite with "Faden" Quartz that we've ever had to offer from this locality. A fantastic and showy specimen that you are rarely available on the market. The old dealer tag accompanying this piece puts the value at $950, but I would honestly say it's closer to $1,500 in today's market. From the collection of Harold Michel.
