Hematite w/ Rutile (old - Sorbonne Coll.)

Item Description

A classic, old-time combination specimen from the St. Gotthard Massif and the Sorbonne Museum. Lustrous, metallic-gray, hematite plates are aesthetically clustered atop the gneiss matrix. Tiny, gemmy, wine-red rutile needles are scattered on the plates. An old letter and number are on either side of the piece. Is that a 1864 date? Possibly.
