Item Description

An old-time, classic, large and very unusually shaped specimen of lustrous, bubbly, banded, rust-red hematite "kidney ore" from the famous iron mines of Egremont, England. This piece is very unusual, in that the hematite has an weird, elongated, fluted look. These look carved but actually the patterns are quite natural. The good ones, like this, have a rounded, natural botryoidal top on them, too. SELDOM do you see such a large specimen of this quality preserved. 3.7 pounds or 1.7 kilos. Ex Larry Krause dealer stock. Valued $1200
