Item Description

Mineral specimens from this old Virginia iron mining district are seldom on the market. This is a very sculptural intergrown pair of botryoidal hematite stalactites with a striking secondary overgrowth of spherical aggegates of highly lustrous tiny gray botryoids of turgite, a mixture of goethite and hematite. The contacted tips on back side reveal the holes, where the precipitating fluids flowed. Very nifty and fine material from the locale.
