A stunning sculptural large mounded pincushion of pretty hematite-tinted calcite scalenohedrons from famous late 1990s finds at this small mine. Dramatically distinctive, the striking mounded piece is studded with innumerable sharp calcite spikes and highlighted by a few highly desirable and classic sharp V-twins. The largest spike is 3.0 cm and the beautiful large V-twin is 1.9 cm across. The 884 Mine has certainly produced among the world's and China's most unusual sharp calcite in the recent past. Complete all-around and essentially pristine, with only trivial edge wear and bruising. Ex Dr. Steve Smale Collection.
