Item Description
Santa Eulalia has produced a stunning variety of calcite forms and this is a striking and excellent large example from the Kevin Brown Colletion. The mounded plate is covered with arborescent clusters of lustrous and translucent, hematite-tinted, calcite rhombs. The vertical clusters, to 4.8 cm tall, look like floral arrangements. Very interestingly, the rust-red, hematite tinting is preferentially much more intense on one side of the clusters and crystals. This dramatic, large piece is essentially pristine, with only periphery wear on one end, amazing for such a large and densely covered piece. A highly representative large example of the species and famous locality.
