Item Description
A striking and unusual large calcite from the famous mines of Santa Eulalia. This very showy piece is composed of three generations of calcite. First came the hematite-tinted scalenohedrons, dominated by the dramatic 6.7 cm crystal. Next came the very glassy, mostly transparent, lightly hematite-tinted calcite rhombs, that nearly cover the lower portion of the piece. Finally, a third generation of scattered clusters of much smaller, more intensely tinted rhombs are preferentially scattered about. In fine shape, overall. The tip of the large crystal is gently cleaved and the bit of periphery wear on the back is noted, but is mostly out-of-sight. These are certainly only modest detractions to this excellent calcite. Rosy-red fluorescence.
