Item Description

Colorful and sculptural large calcite from the Santa Eulalia. Bright red hematite is dramatically included in the knobby spherical aggregates of sparkly, limpid calcite rhombs on this impressive 3-dimensional specimen. The matrix is massive iron or manganese oxides with vugs hosting tiny gem colorless calcites. A very fine example of this varietal from 1970s finds at the famous Potosi Mine. It displays well without aid. See Page 72 of the fine 2018 Mineralogical Record Mexico Special Issue VIII - Santa Eulalia, Vol 49, No. 1.
