Item Description
One of the great old-time English classics, hematite-tinted calcite specimens from the famous extinct iron mines of Cumbria. Two striking intergrown clusters of radiating hematite-tinted calcite crystals compose this sculptural and pristine 360-degree small cabinet. Glassy, transparent, pretty pink, hematite-tinted, calcite scalenohedrons, to 1.5 cm, are dramatically festooned like pincushions on the spare hematite matrix plate on this impressive and excellent specimen. Most of the famous old Cumbria iron mines operated from the mid-1800s to the early 20th century. These were generally found in the mid- to late 1800s. A very aesthetic and rich old-time Cumbria calcite. Valued at $850-1000 and worth it.
