Item Description
A superb, 1.3 cm, mirror-bright / highly lustrous, metallic, Hematite crystal is beautifully cloaked by tiny black pagoda-shaped crystals of Hausmannite sitting on matrix to create this showy and aesthetic miniature from the N'Chwaning III Mine in South Africa. These are some of the finest hematites from anywhere and this is not only a fine combination example, but it's top quality and very showy. No damage and so eye-catching. Although this is not a colorful mineral specimen, it has been my experience that some of the finest examples of well-formed, high quality crystals in the mineral world are often black/metallic species, like this piece.
