Item Description

An attractive specimen of silvery colored, flake-like or bladed "Specularite" Hematite and reddish-brown colored mammilary Hematite "Kidney Ore." The largest "ball" of Hematite measures 1.3 cm across. This material is well-known and beloved from Schneeberg, but is virtually impossible to obtain on the market now. Very attractive, and to find the combination of the two different styles of Hematite together like this is rare from any world locality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3257). The piece is also accompanied by a label from Harvard University that states it's from the Pearse Collection. A great German classic from the famous locality. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
