Item Description
Talk about a weird, rare pseudomorph! Lustrous burnished-brown hematite has replaced (pseudomorphed, in mineral parlance) this very well preserved symmetrical fossil Paleozoic mollusc (clam) from northern Missouri. Paleozoic Era is 539-252 MYA. Ex Kay Robertson Collection No. 5181 and acquired in the late 1960s. A very sharp and excellent example of this fossil pseudomorph. Never seen another as good turn up for sale in any of the collections we have handled! An old piece, from Kay's remarkable deep collection.
