Item Description

This small Arizona claim in the Quartzsite area has produced the very finest US hematites from sporadic fines from the 1940s to 1990s. A 2.4 cm cluster of splendent metallic-gray hematite plates, to 1.8 cm, highlights this dramatic and sculptural combination miniature. The plates are aesthetically nestled in the quartz crystal matrix and are fantastically complimented by the monolithic pair of upright crystals with a capstone. They look like the ancient stone columns from Stonehenge in England! This exotic and excellent cutie is from the Kay Robertson Collection # 2588. It was acquired from California dealer Bill Schneider in mid-1960s and is from the OLD finds. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Specimens from here are rare and are always highly desirable, especially old ones. A MUST for the Arizona or species collector.
