Item Description

A beautiful display specimen of the famous Hematite pseudomorphs after Marcasite from the White Desert, but not the typical habit or "style". These pieces are found in the deep desert, near the border with Libya. Most of the pieces you'll see from this locality feature more slender groups forming "star"-like bursts, but this piece hosts distinctly bladed ("sword"-shaped) crystals that are segregated and discreet giving the piece great three-dimensional form. The largest crystal measures 2.1 cm long. The piece is essentially a complete "floater" with no real point of attachment that I can find. This is a good one, and worth adding to any pseudomorph collection for the size, quality and beautiful crystallization. I love the fact that the original Marcasite crystals are still quite sharp and well-preserved after being replaced by the reddish-bronze colored Hematite.
