Item Description

Certain localities around the world are famous for producing a single mineral or in this case pseudomorph. Here we have wonderful and eye-catching specimen of these classic Hematite after Marcasite from the White Desert in Egypt The piece is nearly a complete "floater" (I can see one small point of contact) and features many "blades" of what used to be Marcasite, now preserved quite beautifully by dark reddish-bronze metallic Hematite, creating a semi "rose"-esque or "burst"-like shape. A very nice piece, worth adding to any pseudomorph collection for the size, quality and beautiful crystallization. I love the fact that the original Marcasite crystals are still quite sharp and well-defined, eve after being replaced by the Hematite. You can actually see a few small spots where the piece has been contacted and there are little holes which reveal the pseudomorphs are hollow inside.
