Item Description
An odd piece with no specific mine given, only that it's from Schwarzenberg, Saxony. The piece almost reminds me of a specimen of petrified wood, with it's almost "grain"-like striated appearance. The rich brick-red colored specimen is farily light for its size and according to the label is a pseudomorph of Hematite after (possibly) Goethite. I've never seen a piece quite like from this area, so it's a bit of a mystery, but if anybody out there has seen one like, please let us know, so we can add or update the information in this listing. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4461). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
