Item Description
A 2.5 cm isolated spearpoint dominates this unusually formed floater specimen of stellate sprays of lustrous, burnished brown hematite after sharp marcasite blades. These are certainly some of the most fascinating and sculptural pseudomorphs around. These come from the remote White Desert of Egypt. These were originally formed as marcasite crystals on the sea bottom and were then pseudomophed, retaining their fantastic form. They were dug up by Parisian dealer Alain Carion and his son in the mid-1990s. No more have been found. A fascinating 360-degree specimen with multiple display views. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. Most such single cluster sprays are more symmetrical.
