Item Description
A striking floater stellate cluster of lustrous, knobby mahogany-brown pseudomorphs of hematite after sharp marcasite crystals from the remote White Desert of Egypt. These were originally formed as marcasite crystals on the sea bottom and were then pseudomophed, retaining their fantastic form. They were dug up by Parisian dealer Alain Carion and his son in the mid-1990s. The Kay Robertson Collection # 112814 specimen was acquired from Alain at the Costa Mesa Show. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A fascinating pseudo with multiple display views.
