Matrix specimens from this well-known 2002 find are rare and this is simply an outstanding large example. The sculptural form of this spectacular (literally) 360-degree piece is off of the charts. The sharp octahedral pseudos have splendent, metallic-gray luster with typical for the find, skeletal/hoppered features, which really enhance the pazzazz of the large crystals. The large isolated octo is 4.2 cm and the way the large crystals are placed along the crest of the piece makes for great aesthetics. Pristine. These artistic pieces came from a volcano in a national park, where collecting is strictly prohibited. Supposedly. Anyways, this is a superb piece and who knows when more will come now. Prices have come down a bit, from when these first came out, but we feel that the quality of this piece is incredibly fine. Valued at $2000. Ex Dave Stoudt Collection.
