Item Description
Statuesque, almost "machined" appearing, super sharp Hematite pseudomorph after Magnetite. These complete oddities initially came out to market in the 1990's highlighted by incredibly textures and forms. This specimen is a former Magnetite cluster showing multiple elongated octahedral crystals, up to 6.8 cm long, some capped with additional octahedrals up to 1.6 cm and all with skeletal/hoppered growth that have been replaced with a shiny metallic Hematite. Both the extended rectangular growth as well as the octahedral crystals are hoppered. There is a slight reddish tinge to some of the surfaces. While pieces from this location have similar features they appear to be individually unique. This aesthetic 360 degree specimen is of exceptional quality for the find with superb crystal form and enchanting textural features. Ex. Jack Halpern Collection No. 3762. This was purchased when they first came out in the late 1990s and is a superb example in the size range with unusually good luster!
