Item Description
RARE and impressive large pseudomorph of hematite after a large equant calcite rhombohedron from the well-known Lake George area of Park County. The lustrous charcoal-gray faces are nicely accented with patches of contrasting rust-red iron oxides. The 2.8 cm smoky quartz crystal is a superb accent. 942 grams or 2.1 pounds mass. Comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $200+, for free. Choice and important Colorado material from the Kay Robertson Collection and probably dates from the 1960s or 1970s. Colorado and big, and sharp - this has to be fairly valued at $1000-plus for this exceptional pseudomorph rarity. A MUST for the pseudomorph, locality or Colorado collector!
