An impressive and rich 360-degree small cabinet plate of hematite pseudomorphs after siderite rhombs from the famous Pike Peak batholith. The striking, intricately intergrown pseudos are highlighted by 2.0 cm on the diagonal protruding edge crystal. The sharp charcoal-gray rhombs have moderate matte lustre and are nicely accented by patches of classic rust-red hematite. Embedded cream color microcline crystals are a typical accessory and nice contrast. There are more microcline crystal sections on the bottom of the piece. This exceptional and pristine pseudo has a super provenance. The 31Q label on the bottom is from the Dr. Ed David Collection. Ed assembled several world-class collections and was Science Advisor to President Nixon. From the noted pseudomorph collection of Dr. Wouter van Tichelen of Belgium. The piece has multiple fine display views. A classic Colorado pseudomorph.
