Item Description
A fascinating, rare style pseudomorph from the White Desert. This striking piece has a double cruciform blocky habit, accented by two smaller side car crystals. Most pseudos from here have a stellate form with spearpoint arms. Lustrous, nicely burnished brown hematite after marcasite crystals form an artistic and pristine 360-degree floater nodule from this obscure locale. These were originally formed as marcasite crystals on the sea bottom and were then pseudomophed, retaining their fantastic form. They were dug in the remote western desert of southwest Egypt by Parisian dealer Alain Carion and his son in the mid-1990s. No more have been found. Ex R.D. Mushlitz Collection. Every turn presents a different perspective to this surreal piece!
