Item Description

Fantastic 360-degree form on this striking cluster of splendent metallic-gray hematite pseudomorphs after sharp magnetite octahedrons on this outstanding small cabinet from the famous late 1990s finds. The surreal large single crystal, at 6.5 cm, looks like stacked octos, but its a single crystal with very complex form. The curved termination and striking skeletal and ribbed features on all sides add real pizzazz to this fine piece. The smaller octos attached to one side add even more character. The attachment is at the base of this pristine and sculptural specimen. The piece displays beautifully from all sides. These caused quite a stir, when they first came out. These artistic pieces came from a volcano in a national park, where collecting is strictly prohibited. Supposedly. Once fairly common, you don't see many around anymore, except from recycled collections. A very choice example.
