Item Description

A dramatic combination pseudomorph with most unusual form this famous extinct uranium mine. Hematite has partially replaced the striking, large, vertical, parallel-growth biotite plates. You can see the biotite on either end of the piece. Adding real pizzazz to the piece are the highly modified, hematite-coated calcite scalenohedrons at the base. The broken crystals reveal the underlying glassy calcite, which adds much character to this intensely sculptural and unusual piece. Ex Steven Chamberlain and Robert Nowakowski Collection.
