Hematite on Magnesite (ex Brian Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

A very showy Hematite specimen from the famous Magnesite mine of Brumado. The rather lustrous, metallic, silvery crystals are epitaxially growing on sharp, lustrous, gemmy, colorless rhombohedra of Magnesite. The Hematite crystals - the largest of which measures 1.8 cm across - are in great shape and show wonderful hexagonal form with beautifully bright, gun-metal luster and for a final touch, there are some slight negative or "skeletal" faces on the piece as well. I think it's an impressive miniature from this classic Brazilian locality. Valued at $400-$500.
