Hematite (old classic locale, rare habit) ex Robertson

Item Description

This is an old-time, showy and excellent small cabinet specimen of striated, gray-black, sub-metallic Hematite crystals on a contrasting gray to reddish stained matrix. Four rows of Hematite blades sparkle in unison when the piece is rotated and the crystals range in size from 3 to 8 mm across. The crystals just have a brilliant luster to them and they stand out on the granular matrix. Numerous other, variably complete Hematite crystals are distributed all over the piece as well. This is a highly representative specimen for the species and locality. Ex. Kay Robertson collection with her label and an old Hugh Ford label from his store on Wall Street in New York (early 1900s).
