Item Description
An outstanding, sculptural small cabinet specimen of hematite "kidney ore" from this obscure New Mexico district. The aesthetic cluster of larger, lustrous, banded bubbly botryoids is dramatically accented by the small lustrous "blackberry" at one end. An exceptional, nearly pristine 360-degree example of this rarity. A small contact is noted below the blackberry and the major attachment is on the base. This pieces compares with the best from the famous 1800s to 1900s iron ore deposits of Cumbria, England. If this WAS English, and it would be easy to simply "say it was so," the price would be much higher! A very fine New Mexico rarity and a must for the locality or species collector. valued $500-750
