Item Description
A striking and beautiful, CABINET specimen of highly lustrous, rust-red, banded, botryoidal, hematite "kidney ore" from this difficult to obtain locale - the Cary Mine of Wisconsin. The top of the piece is very nicely complimented by a vein of starkly contrasting, lustrous, white, calcite rhombs. Periphery wear is noted, but has minimal impact on this showy, historic piece. This is classic, old-time and rare combination material, comparable to kidney ore from the famous iron mines of Cumbria, England. VERY FEW such specimens turn up on the market today.
