Item Description
This is honestly the first piece of this elusive material that I've seen from this locality. It's certainly reminiscent of the fine "Kidney Ore" Hematites from Cumbria, England that came out over 100 years ago. Were it not for the label, I would have no idea that this mine produced this material. A wonderful concentric / radiating group of reniform Hematite with a rich reddish-black hue. The luster is exceptionally FINE for the material, and this is not just a reference piece, but a SUPERB example of this variety of Hematite on a worldwide scale. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10948). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A hard to find display piece of this RARE material from Arizona.
