Classic, shapely and colorful large hematite "kidney ore" from this well-known extinct Cumbria iron mine, which has also produced excellent barite, calcite, dolomite, fluorite and quartz specimens. Highly lustrous, rich rust-red bubby botryoids cover the sculptural specimen. The bit of sparkly specular hematite on the front and much more on the back are a nice bonus. Ex R.D. Mushlitz Collection. A very fine, rich and excellent large kidney ore specimen from the locale. Such pieces normally go for $1500-2500 at shows. An Old Classic from the early 1800s through possibly the mid 1900s, but certainly not recently found!
