Item Description
Swiss Hematite "Iron Roses" are often considered to be the finest representations in the world from the standpoint of form, luster and sheer beauty. Rarely does a metallic mineral inspire such awe as the famous "eisenrosen" do, and they are valued in Switzerland as much as any other treasure from the Alps. This particular specimen hosts several very sharp, lustrous, beautiful, layered, metallic silvery-grey "roses" of Hematite measuring up to 1.6 cm across which are sitting atop gemmy/translucent, nearly colorless, lustrous, blocky crystals of Adularia. It is difficult to obtain Hematites on matrix from any Swiss locality in my experience, especially from Fibbia. The piece is in great shape overall, with only trivial "rubs" here and there. Valued at $700-$800 due to the excellent quality of the accompanying Adularia. A worthwhile small cabinet size display specimen from one of the most well known Swiss localities for this beloved material.
